The last day

This is unbelievable. I can't believe today was actually my last day at work before the trip! It was one heck of a chaotic day, running around, wrapping up loose ends, and saying all my goodbyes.

Thank you all for being such a great bunch to work with. Thank you for the yummy lunch. Thank you for all the wonderful wishes and great trip advice! :) Thank you for the fabulous farewell gift! Diba - Ian's a little jealous, I think you've achieved your goal ;)

The trip

So, the whole purpose of starting this blog site in the first place... to 'document' the trip.

A little bit about this trip for those who don't know. Ian and I are taking some time out of our lives here in Toronto to travel to some far off destinations (thinking China, India, and Africa right now) for some undetermined amount of time.

I can't believe this is actualy happening. We leave on March 13th and it still feels so surreal! There is still so much to do here before we fly out... I can't believe we'll be living out of a backpack for such a long time in just 3 weeks! wow.

Many have asked me if this was a difficult decision to make, to take this trip. My answer is... not at all. It really wasn't even a decision to make. It's just something I've wanted to do for so very long and when the right opportunity and time came along, it was just execution from there onwards.

I just can't believe this dream of mine is finally about to come true. I'm not even sure what to expect out there, I just know I want to explore, experience, and live. There is so much more out there to learn about. I absolutely cannot wait. I will try and share as many of the experiences I have with all of you here.

An Update on Zoe

I heard from Zoe's new home today. It sounds like she's adjusting well. I feel so much better now. So good to know she went to a good home :)

Zoe

Today, Zoe went to her new home. I didn't think parting with her was going to be this difficult. It broke my heart. She was my little girl.
On the car ride over to her new home, she couldn't stop crying. It was a cry I had never heard before. She was wailing her little heart out. I only held out until we dropped her off. I had my first glimpse into what parents must feel when they have to part with their children for whatever reason. I'm sure this doesn't even compare. I only had her for 3 years and didn't have the whole preganacy labour experience with her. Still, my heart is aching.

I'm sure she'll be loved well in her new home. She'll have great big windows to look out of now. And she won't have to worry about Spaz attacking her anymore.

Zoe was a treasure. I'll miss her dearly.
